Based in Colorado, the North Star Synergies team enjoys giving back to the community that supports us. Over four decades we have helped raise more than five million dollars for organizations working in children’s health, disability, housing, and hospice care.

Most of that has come through the same mechanism the firm uses in its commercial work: bringing organizations together that each have reach, and organizing them around a single effort. A homebuilding industry that shows up as one body raises considerably more than the sum of its companies asking separately.

Show Home for Hope

The clearest example is Show Home for Hope, which our founder established and chaired from 1993 to 1996 — work recognized with a Distinguished Service Award. The model was straightforward and unusually effective: build a show home with donated labor and materials from across the industry, then direct the proceeds to charity.

Industry service

Alongside charitable fundraising, the firm has given a substantial amount of time to the industry’s own institutions. Our founder is a Senior Life Director of the National Association of Home Builders, Past Chairman of its National Sales and Marketing Council, and served nineteen years as Public Affairs Chairman and board member for the Colorado Association of Home Builders.

He ranks second all-time in NAHB membership recruitment with more than 3,200 Spike credits, was named Spike of the Year among 16,000 recruiters in 2014 and 2015, and has helped raise more than $75 million for the association. In 2022 the HBA of Metro Denver recognized the contribution with its Onwards & Upwards Award for Outstanding Member Contribution.

Trade associations are how a fragmented industry sets standards, trains people, and speaks with one voice to government. Supporting them is not adjacent to the business — it is part of it.
